Consider Making a Gift Today

Play a role in the life of the Brevard Music Center and consider making a gift today to support our mission and help ensure we remain vital to the landscape of arts and education programming in our country.

Donate

When you contribute to BMC, you can enjoy great benefits—access to our member presale, invitations to special events, and more—that will enhance your experience during the Summer Festival and all year long!

Maestro Society members experience our musical community more deeply and receive additional benefits like designated season parking, access to our Maestro Society Lounge, invitations to insider events, and more!

Annual Fund

The Brevard Music Center Annual Fund is the financial heartbeat of the organization. This general operating fund provides vital support to every aspect of the Music Center’s daily life. These gifts address important expenses such as faculty salaries, music and instrument rental, facility maintenance, and other expenses associated with keeping BMC healthy both now and in the future.

Scholarship Fund

Scholarship support is BMC’s single-greatest need. More than 90% of all students attending our Summer Institute are provided some level of scholarship support based on merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Gifts to BMC’s Scholarship Fund help ensure that these young musicians have the opportunity for study at the highest levels of professional development.

Capital Support

Since 2014, over $15 million has been received from hundreds of Music Center friends in support of the most critical facilities needs across our 180-acre campus: new student dormitories and practice facilities; new and refurbished faculty housing; updates to rehearsal and performance spaces; long-delayed paving and road infrastructure projects; the addition of our first year-round performance venue, Parker Concert Hall. Our most recent addition, Ombres Administration Building, houses our full-time staff, allowing us to renovate our former administration building to create The Jan and Beattie Wood Student Services Center.

Endowment

Endowment funds are thoughtfully invested and only a portion of the earnings is spent each year towards scholarships and other important initiatives. Endowment gifts strengthen the long-term financial security that is required to ensure high quality educational programs and artistic performances year after year.

Encore Society

The Brevard Music Center is deeply grateful for the members of our Encore Society, individuals who have remembered us in their estate plans and have shared with us their intentions.

Create a Legacy with a Planned Gift

Creating a legacy at the Brevard Music Center is about investing in future generations of student musicians. It’s about being part of something that is bigger than ourselves, ensuring that ambitious and gifted young people can access educational opportunities for many years to come.

Properly planned charitable gifts do more than help BMC. They can supplement your income, help avoid capital gains, and reduce estate and income taxes; all the while providing the personal satisfaction that comes from knowing you have made a difference in the lives of ambitious young people.

As you explore your long-term charitable and financial goals, members of the Development office are available to discuss a variety of planned giving options that might be beneficial for both you and the Music Center.

Most popular types of planned gifts include:

  • Bequests
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Life Estates
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Life Insurance

In addition to providing significant support for BMC, some planned gifts:

  • Provide a stream of guaranteed income for life for you
  • Reduce or eliminate your gift and estate taxes
  • Generate an immediate income tax deduction
  • Reduce or eliminate your capital gains taxes

Planned gifts frequently allow donors to make larger charitable donations than they ever thought possible, and they often provide financial and tax rewards. BMC can work with you and your financial advisors to create a planned gift that best fits your personal and charitable giving goals.

Wills and Bequests

The most common form of deferred gift to the Music Center is a bequest. BMC will be happy to provide sample language and more information.

Retained Life Estate

You can generate a current income tax deduction by giving your home or farm to BMC, while retaining the right to use the property during your lifetime. The property will also be removed from your taxable estate.

Life income gifts, such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts, can make a tremendous impact on the Music Center while providing you and/or your loved ones with a stream of income for the duration of your lives or for a specific number of years.

Gifts of Retirement Plans

Naming BMC as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a private pension fund can result in a “tax-wise” legacy gift.

If you would like more information about planning giving, or would like to notify BMC of an existing planned gift, please email us at development@brevardmusic.org or call 828-862-2139.
