Christopher Philpotts is Principal English Horn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as Principal Oboe of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.
Chris was formerly Principal Oboe with the Dayton Philharmonic and Cincinnati Ballet Orchestras. He has been a featured soloist, both on oboe and English horn, many times throughout the Tri-State area.
He has also been active as a studio musician playing various recorders, flutes, guitar and the Ewi (an electronic windblown instrument), as well as oboe and English horn. Chris has been performing with classical and jazz ensembles in the Cincinnati area for many years.
Chris is also considered to be an oboe reed expert, presenting workshops in the studios of Bert Lucarelli, Jim Caldwell and Dan Stolper in New York; Oberlin, Ohio; Interlochen, Michigan; Suny Purchase, The Hartt College in Hartford and Magic Mountain, Connecticut.
