Emerging Artists Fund
The Pattis Family Foundation Emerging Artists Fund at Brevard Music Center is designed to support recent alumni of the Brevard Music Center's core Classical programs as they establish their professional music careers. With an annual budget of $25,000, this program will award approximately 10-20 project-based grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 each. The grants will empower alumni to pursue creative projects, professional development, and critical equipment/resources for career development.
Eligibility
This fund is open to Brevard Music Center Core Session alumni of 3-week programs or greater who attended within the past ten years. Instrumentalists, composers, and vocalists are eligible to participate. Applicants must propose a project or initiative requiring financial support.
Eligible Uses of Funds
Creative Projects: Performances, recordings, compositions, or innovative musical collaborations.
Professional Development: Fees for conferences, lessons, masterclasses, or certifications.
Equipment/Resources: Purchase of instruments, software, or other essential tools.
Submission Requirements
Applications will be accepted September 15 - November 15, 2025 through MyBMC at my.brevardmusic.org.
Application Materials:
- 500-1000 word project proposal outlining goals and impact, including a budget breakdown.
- Resume or CV highlighting BMC connection.
- One letter of recommendation (faculty or professional). This document can be uploaded directly into MyBMC by the applicant or emailed to emergingartistsfund@brevardmusic.org by the recommender.

Review Process:
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of BMC staff professionals based on the feasibility of the project, artistic/professional merit, and alignment with BMC's mission to promote excellence in music.
All applicants will be notified by December 15, 2025. Funds will be dispersed on or before January 31, 2026.
The Brevard Music Center, a summer institute and festival, teaches gifted young musicians to prepare and perform great musical works at a high artistic level.
Grant Reporting
Recipients must provide a detailed report with outcomes within six months of completing their funded initiative and supply a short video or written summary for sharing on BMC platforms.
Questions & Answers
What are examples of ineligible uses of grant funds?
Funds may not be used toward school or festival tuition, expenses incurred before the grant payment date, and any other artistic or professional expenses not mentioned in the project proposal.
How will the funds be dispersed?
Funds will be dispersed via check.
Are the awards taxed?
Recipients will receive the full awarded amount. However, recipients might have to pay taxes later based on tax status and income.
What is the timeline for using funds?
Funds must be used within 12 months of receiving the award.
