Season Opener with Stile Antico

Helen sings with a variety of ensembles in the UK including the Oxford Camerata, Brabant Ensemble and The King’s Consort. She is also a member of the choir of St Margaret’s Westminster, London. She has recently taken up the post of Singing Teacher to the choristers of Westminster Cathedral. She studies with Jenevora Williams. When not singing, Helen is usually researching upcoming Stile tour locations to find the best restaurants.

Kate enjoys a busy career as a professional singer specialising in early music. She spent 11 years as a member of the choir of All Saints’, Margaret Street, and still regularly sings in churches and cathedrals around London. Alongside performing, Kate is active as a singing teacher, both at Orchard House Prep School and St Cecilia’s School in Wandsworth. In addition, she coaches the choristers of St Mary’s, Merton Park and is a Trustee of the Rodolfus Foundation.

Becky studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of York, before working in music publishing, then moving into full-time singing, performing with ensembles such as Tonus Peregrinus and The Sixteen. She lives in South East London with her husband and teenage children and their excitable cockapoo Gus. Some of her leisure pursuits include gardening, baking and playing the violin in a local chamber orchestra.

Originally from Belfast, Cara studied Music at the University of York and Trinity College of Music. As well as solo oratorio work she has performed with groups such as Philharmonia Voices, Britten Sinfonia Voices, and is a member of the choir of St Mary Abbots, Kensington. She is also the Director of Music at Ravenscourt Park Prep School in West London. When not singing she can usually be found eating and drinking, or tending to her rather excessive menagerie.

Emma sings regularly with various ensembles in the UK, including the Tallis Scholars, the Brabant Ensemble and the Oxford Camerata, and increasingly enjoys working as a soloist. As well as enjoying the busy touring lifestyle of a choral singer, she is passionate about teaching both singing and cello, which she does privately and at Summer Fields school in Oxford, where she lives.

Rosie graduated with a Masters in Solo Voice Ensemble Singing from the University of York, before taking up a Lay Clerkship at Peterborough Cathedral. She now works with many of the UK’s finest vocal groups, including The Marian Consort, Chamber Choir of London, SANSARA and The Carice Singers. Rosie also works in fundraising for a food charity, a cause particularly close to her heart; when not singing, she can generally be found stirring a risotto or two.

Andrew works widely as a conductor, vocal coach, keyboardist, and singer. He has conducted for The Royal Ballet & Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Early Opera Company, Royal Northern Sinfonia and Orchestra of the Swan, and regularly directs the BBC Singers. He is Head Coach at the National Opera Studio, and Musical Director of Londinium and Kingston Choral Society. Solo engagements include all the Bach Evangelists.

Benedict works with many of the UK’s finest vocal ensembles as well as groups in Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA. As a soloist he is in demand as the Evangelist in Bach’s Passions, but has also performed works such as Purcell’s Fairy Queen, Britten’s Serenade and Arvo Pärt’s Passio. He is also passionate about the piano, and his Debussy medleys during Stile Antico breaks have been known to empty some of the world’s greatest concert halls.

Jonathan works full-time as both an ensemble singer and soloist in the UK and Europe, performing regularly with ensembles such as the Constellation Choir, Vox Luminis, the Tallis Scholars, the Irish Baroque Orchestra, and the Gabrieli Consort. He is in increasing demand as a soloist, particularly for Bach. He is a foodie and enjoys spending time on the coast in his native Suffolk.

Gareth read Music and was a choral scholar at Jesus College, Cambridge. Since moving to London in 2014, he has worked with a variety of choirs such as Tenebrae, BBC Singers and Recordare. He is also a member of the choir of HM Chapel Royal Tower of London and the choir of Holy Sepulchre (the National Musicians’ Church). Alongside performing, he publishes editions of early music, teaches singing at Harrow School and enjoys exploring the world by train.

James can be heard with a variety of ensembles such as La Nuova Musica, Taverner Consort, Brabant Ensemble, The Cardinall’s Musick, and Philharmonia Voices. Having studied opera, he has also sung in the choruses of ENO and the Bregenz Festival. A former Assistant Vicar Choral at St Paul’s Cathedral, he still regularly deputises there, and is in frequent demand as an oratorio soloist. When not singing he can usually be found making friends with dogs.

Nathan read music at Cardiff University with the piano as his first study. Whilst there he discovered a love of choral music, and he hasn’t looked back. An alumnus of the Genesis Sixteen and the NYCGB Fellowship programme, he regularly sings with some of the UK’s leading ensembles such as Tenebrae, The Cardinall’s Musick, The Sixteen, and The Carice Singers.
