Janiec Opera Company

June 14 - August 8, 2010

David Gately, Director
Patrick Hansen, Associate Director

The Janiec Opera Company enrolls 36 college-aged and pre-professional singers who aspire to careers in the opera world. Brevard offers stage experience in addition to daily rehearsals, coaching, and classes. Topics in classes may include acting, diction, and the audition process. Visiting opera professionals present masterclasses, and there is a daily movement class.

Nearly all roles in the fully-staged opera productions are performed by students.

2010 productions

  • Die Fledermaus (German with English dialogue)
  • The Pirates of Penzance (English)
  • Le Nozze di Figaro (Italian)
