Brevard, NC
Brevard, North Carolina is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. The area is called "Land of the Waterfalls" due to approximately 250 waterfalls located in Transylvania County ("trans" for "across" and "sylvan" for "woods"). Whitewater Falls, located just outside of town, is the highest waterfall in the eastern United States. Other outdoor activities in the area include hiking in the Pisgah National Forest and rafting and fishing in local rivers.
The Biltmore Estate in nearby Asheville, along with the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, and Looking Glass Falls, are examples of the many recreation and tourist venues for visitors to the area.
The city of Brevard offers a thriving music and arts community, a wide variety of fine and casual dining and unique shopping and antique stores. Major hotels are located on the outskirts of town with cozy bed and breakfast establishments within walking distance of the quaint Main Street shopping district.
