Opera In A Box

Opera In A Box is an original opera series introduced in 2013. Each summer, a composer and/or librettist will bring their work-in-progress to the Brevard Music Center. Opera students will have the opportunity to help them achieve their vision. Sections of the opera will be staged and performed in the Morrison Playhouse, a state-of-the-art black box theater. The new work will be narrated by the creators and the stage director, guiding the audience through the creative process of developing a new work. Join the Brevard Music Center as it helps create opera for the 21st century.

This season Opera In a Box will present Sister Carrie – a new opera in progress by Robert Aldridge and Hershel Garfein, composer and librettist of two-time Grammy Award-winning Elmer Gantry.
