2015 Volunteer Committees
Preserve and protect the BMC's history. Skills needed include locating, collecting, scanning and digital preparation of items pertinent to the history of BMC and placing them on the website for public access.
Share your gardening skills in beautifying the BMC campus with the students' music all around you. Adopt an individual garden space and/or work in groups. Participate in the new annual spring plant sale and propagation shade house. Volunteers do light physical labor.
Plan and/or support smaller, more intimate benefit events coordinated by volunteers. Use your skills in party planning, cooking, decorating, clean-up, etc. to raise funds for BMC student scholarships.
Assist the BMC in providing a quality experience for concert attendees by selling refreshments from carts during summer performances at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium and/or the Porter Center. Volunteers must be able to stand for up to two hours. Orientation training attendance is expected.
Use your handyman skills and work with others to construct, renovate and maintain the BMC buildings used by students and faculty. Tasks include carpentry, painting, demolition, etc. Work can be year round or seasonal.
Raise funds for BMC student scholarships through the sale of merchandise at the BMC gift shop. This committee is for friendly volunteers who will actively promote and sell merchandise at summer performances. Volunteers must be able to stand for up to two hours.
Assist BMC with quality fund-raising events by helping with setup, servicing, breakdown and clean-up. Friendly volunteers who are upbeat and cooperative with many constituents, (i.e. - vendors, staff, donors, sponsors and guests) are invited. Volunteers must be able to stand for up to two hours.
Mailings & Deliveries
Help spread the word about BMC and BMCA activities through mass mailings and BMC program calendar deliveries. Tasks include stuffing, labeling and sorting mailings and/or delivering summer performance calendars to local and regional businesses.
Assist BMC staff with marketing and PR. Tasks include selling advertising space and writing and distributing copy for press pieces with BMC staff guidance. Specific skill set necessary; an interview may be required.
Recruit, train, and recognize volunteers of BMCA. Opportunities for involvement include producing recruitment mailings and organizing volunteer training and recognition events.
Use your creative eye to capture photographs for the newsletter, or write an article on a topic of interest to our membership.
Welcome, seat and assist attendees at the summer performances; offer information about BMC when asked. Volunteers must be able to stand for as long as two to four hours. Orientation training attendance is expected.
Work in support of BMC staff and BMCA committees to maintain and utilize the volunteer database and lend office assistance. Tasks include database entry, correspondence and email and telephone communications.
Welcome Center / Raffle
Serve as ambassadors of BMC and the Brevard community at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium and the Porter Center summer concert events. Answer visitors' questions and sell automobile raffle tickets to raise funds for BMC. Friendly volunteers who like to interact with visitors are invited. Orientation training attendance is expected.
