Patrick Hansen is the Director of Opera Studies at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal. A versatile artist, Mr. Hansen is a stage director, conductor, and vocal coach. Recent productions he has directed are Orfeo (Opera Memphis), Camelot (Ash Lawn Festival), L'elisir d'amore (Wichita Grand Opera), and Essential Puccini (The Kennedy Center). For Opera McGill, he has directed CosÌ fan tutte, The Rape of Lucretia, Albert Herring, Dialogues of the Carmelites, Agrippina, Alcina, Thésée, and Trouble in Tahiti. Formerly the Artistic Administrator for Florida Grand Opera, Mr. Hansen was the Director of the Young American Artist Program at Glimmerglass Opera and the former Music Director of Opera Festival of New Jersey where he conducted the critically acclaimed production of Dallapiccola's Il Prigioniero and Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle. Mr. Hansen has been on the music staffs of many companies throughout the United States, including The Juilliard Opera Center and Lyric Opera of Chicago. For Brevard, he conducted last summer's productions of Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica, and this summer conducts Pirates of Penzance. Next season, he returns to the Kennedy Center to direct Essential Verdi.
