Teaching Assistants and Resident Assistants

Brevard Music Center students in the College division may apply to serve as Teaching Assistants or Resident Assistants.


Teaching Assistants

A limited number of Teaching Assistant (TA) positions are available in the following instruments: Bassoon, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Collaborative Piano, Composition, Flute, Horn, Oboe, Percussion, and Trumpet

Duties for teaching assistants may include coaching younger students, conducting sectional rehearsals, teaching theory classes, and assisting faculty. TAs have the same ensemble and performance opportunities as other students. Teaching Assistants pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of $600 which covers tuition, room, and board.

A TA applicant must:

  • be at least 21 years of age
  • submit the separate Teaching Assistant application (within the general application)
  • be accepted first as a student

Teaching Assistants must arrive on Sunday, June 17, 2018.


Resident Assistants

Brevard's Resident Assistants (RA) supervise student living quarters and provide guidance to younger students. Two RAs live in each high school residence; one RA lives in each college residence. RAs have the same ensemble and performance opportunities as other college division students. Resident Assistants pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of $600 which covers tuition, room, and board.

An RA applicant must:

  • be at least 21 years of age
  • submit the separate Resident Assistant application (within the general application)
  • be accepted first as a student
  • participate in a telephone interview
  • submit to a formal background check, if selected
  • participate fully in the RA orientation sessions prior to student arrival

Resident Assistants must arrive on Monday, June 11, 2018, and must stay on campus through Monday, August 6, 2018.
