What Do BMCA Members Do?
Today's BMCA members serve in three primary volunteer areas. Other projects and programs are added throughout the year.
Communications
Brevard Notes, the newsletter of the BMCA, is written and edited by volunteers and is distributed three times per year to volunteers and administration staff and keeps the Center and BMCA members informed on volunteer activities.
Archive volunteers assist in projects that preserve, index and provide for the display and research of historical documents of the BMC and BMCA. This year all Overtures from 1945 through 2008 were scanned and indexed to electronic documents and can be found online at our archive site.
The mailing committee volunteers assemble and process mailing for BMC and BMCA, and also deliver season marketing materials.
Funds Development
Prelude is an annual fundraising gala hosted by the Brevard Music Center Association. The event welcomes key patrons and influential people to join together for a special fund-raiser featuring gourmet dining, dancing and a fabulous silent auction. Over 100 volunteers assist with the event each year - soliciting auction donations, helping with decorations and working the gala event. For more information on Prelude, please click here.
Celebrations are a variety of dinners, cocktail parties, tours and musical events which are planned for your enjoyment throughout the off-season. Volunteers help coordinate hosts for each event and support BMCA by gathering friends to attend. Last year's selection of nine special events included an Easter Egg Hunt, a Chili Fest, a Paella Party, and a Grill Party. For more information on Celebrations, please click here.
Harmony House is the Gift Shop of the Brevard Music Center. It is operated entirely by volunteers. Harmony House volunteers provide excellent customer service, take inventory of merchandise, and operate a cash register. A retail background is preferred but not necessary. Training is provided.
