High School Division
Each year the high school division enrolls approximately 170 students,
ages 14 to 18. Four programs of study are available:
All students take classes in music theory and literature. Classes are presented in small sections, grouped by experience and ability. Theory and literature introduce texts, concepts, and practices that prepare students for college music study.
High school students receive weekly private lessons from Brevard's artist faculty, and they may participate in studio or master classes. Virtually all instrumentalists play chamber music with formal coaching. Students may perform solo and chamber music in Brevard's weekly student recitals.
Students in the high school division will encounter older students at concerts, in studio and master classes, and in the cafeteria. However, there is no cross-pollination in ensembles, and high school students have their own residences, their own campus life system, and their own social activities.
