Financial Aid
Students are encouraged to seek financial assistance from their own schools or from music clubs or other organizations, youth orchestras and bands, service clubs (e.g., Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.), businesses, and foundations.
Brevard Music Center awards its own financial aid according to a student's musical ability and financial need. In 2009 over 90% of Brevard students received financial aid from the Music Center.
Winners of Brevard's performance competitions (the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition, the BMC Piano Competition) and other BMC award winners receive full tuition plus room and board in the following summer. Some students employed as Resident Advisors or Teaching Assistants receive full tuition plus room and board.
Other students may receive some portion of full tuition.
Need-based financial aid comes as work study. Work study students complete from 2 to 8 hours of assigned duties per week, depending upon the amount of the award. Students may work as library, administrative, or technical assistants or as ushers. Various other activities are available according to qualifications.
Merit awards are determined primarily by the audition for admission. Many students receive a combination of merit awards and need-based aid.
Students apply for Brevard's financial aid online, as part of the regular application process. Applying for financial aid requires disclosure of certain financial information and a detailed statement of need.
Many students in the college division may apply for employment as Teaching Assistants or Resident Advisors. See the Student Employment section.
