Ensembles

The Brevard Music Center Orchestra is BMC's flagship ensemble led by Artistic Director Keith Lockhart and special guest conductors throughout the season. The majority of the Music Center's instrumental faculty performs in the ensemble, leading sections of college division students. The BMCO is also the central ensemble for opera productions.

Students in the Music Center's college division comprise the Brevard Sinfonia. This ensemble will present three performances with 2010 guest conductors: The Planets under the baton of JoAnn Falletta, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Brahms with Andrés Cárdenes, and Haydn and Prokofiev conducted by Matthias Bamert.

The Transylvania Symphony Orchestra features the talented high school students at the Music Center. The orchestra presents three concerts: maestro Keith Lockhart conducts Brahms Symphony No. 1 on July 11 and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 on July 25 and Ken Lam will conduct Carnival Overture, a program of overtures and other favorites, on August 6.

I Solisti di Brevard is the Music Center's string chamber orchestra. Members are drawn from the High School Division and selected by audition. They present a concert of baroque and classical music at the Porter Center August 2.

Wind and percussion high school students make up the Transylvania Symphonic Band which is lead by Kraig Williams. The TSB performs throughout the summer, including the annual Patriotic Pops Concert on July 4th. Other concerts are July 14, July 28, and August 7.

itch is the Music Center's ensemble for new music. Students from the college division form this group which performs the music of the BMC composition students.
