Marketing Intern

The Marketing Intern assists the Brevard Music Center with a wide variety of duties relating to the promotion and advertisement of the Festival, and overall assistance with marketing department duties.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • assist with the production and dissemination of promotional materials
  • write and distribute public service announcements
  • update and maintain media contact lists
  • research and implement marketing topics as assigned
  • assist with press releases and/or press kits as needed
  • coordinate weekly box office lobby displays and bulletin boards
  • track and file advertising materials and press clippings
  • fulfill general marketing duties as needed

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • minimum two years of college experience
  • strong interest in marketing and communications
  • excellent writing, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • knowledge of performing arts, especially music and related terms
  • self-motivation and willingness to take initiative and problem-solve
  • ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects independently
  • valid drivers license; own vehicle desired but not necessary

Term of employment is from June 1 to August 10, 2010. Exact daily schedule may vary but the position requires a full-time commitment throughout the employment period, often including weekends due to the vast number of performances. The position requires a commitment of seven days a week, however time off will be negotiated as the performance schedule dictates.

On-campus housing, meals, and a salary of $2400 are provided.

Brevard Music Center is a seven week summer institute and festival. Four-hundred young musicians from around the country come each summer to study and perform in over 80 concerts ranging from orchestra to opera, chamber music and pops.
