Margaret Karp teaches violin and viola at the University of Kentucky and at Transylvania University. Ms. Karp serves as Assistant Concertmaster of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra and coaches regularly for the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras and the Kentucky All-State Orchestras. She maintains a large private studio, and in 2005 was awarded Studio Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky chapter of the American String Teachers Association. From 2002-2007 she taught at the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. Before coming to Kentucky she was Principal Second Violin of the Florida Orchestra, and also played a season in the Philharmonia da Camera in Dortmund, Germany. Margaret Karp has performed in chamber music festivals in Italy, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Ms.Karp's teachers include James Buswell at Indiana University and Valery Gradow at the Volkswangschule in Essen, Germany. Margaret joined the Brevard faculty in 2008.
