Financial Aid

Students are encouraged to seek financial assistance from their schools or at home, from music clubs or other organizations, youth orchestras and bands, service clubs (e.g., Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.), businesses, and foundations.

Brevard Music Center awards its own financial aid according to a student's musical ability and financial need. In 2007 over 90% of Brevard students received financial aid from the Music Center.

Admission in certain areas provides full tuition plus room and board. Winners of Brevard's performance competitions (the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition, the BMC Piano Competition) and other BMC award winners receive full tuition plus room and board in the following summer. Students employed as Head Residents and Teaching Assistants receive full tuition plus room and board.

Financial aid for other students is available. Most financial aid is distributed as Work Study. Work Study awards are available only to full-session students. Students are required to complete from 2 to 8 hours of assigned duties per week, depending upon the amount of the award. Students may be assigned to work as library, administrative, or technical assistants or as ushers. Various other activities are available according to qualifications.

Students apply for Brevard's financial aid online, as part of the regular application process. Applying for financial aid requires disclosure of certain financial information and a detailed statement of need.

Many students in the Advanced Division may apply for employment as teaching assistants or head residents. See the Student Employment section.
