Concerto Competition
The Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition
is held on July 19 - 20. Any
full-session BMC student is eligible to participate.
A student selects a concerto movement from the approved repertoire list and performs it with piano accompaniment for judges. The competition occurs in two rounds:
Performances are given from memory and are limited to one movement of a work on the repertoire list. Specific rules and procedures for a season's competition are published at the beginning of the season.

- a preliminary round in which students compete within instrumental families (strings, woodwinds, brass/percussion, piano)
- a final round, held on the stage of Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium and open to the public
