Facilities
Brevard Music Center is one of the few organizations of its kind that owns and operates its own physical facilities. The BMC campus encompasses more than 145 buildings spread over 140 beautiful mountainside acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
BMC's primary concert venue, Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, seats 1,800 and also has lawn seating available on the left and right sides of the hall. The open-sided construction makes this venue special, and it has been refurbished recently to include state-of-the-art light and sound equipment.
Located at the lake end of the Whittington-Pfohl complex is Thomas Hall, which is used primarily as a rehearsal facility by the Janiec Opera Company. Some concerts, especially student recitals, are held in historic Straus Auditorium. Like Whittington-Pfohl, Straus has open-sided construction. During BMC's early years it was the only concert venue on the campus.
Since 2002, Brevard Music Center has been presenting chamber concerts in the concert hall of the Porter Center at Brevard College. Most recently, a newly forged partnership with the Transylvania County Library showcases BMC students in chamber recitals every Monday and Thursday.
